Aldosteronism a.k.a. Conn's Disease [posted 11/6/98]
Question: After years of low Potassium levels(in the 2's) they diagnosed aldostroism. I have been taking Aldactone for 6 yrs along with 6-10mq potassium pills a day. I now have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes...could the high blood sugar be caused by the aldactone. I am now on Glucophage, Tiazac, Lotensin, aldactone and the potassium. Are they all compatible?

Answer:Diuretics can elevate blood sugar slightly, but, not usually enough to cause diabetes mellitus. These drugs are all compatible.
