Question: What health problems are linked to working in an office for several years in which the walls, ceilings, and carpet padding are lined with asbestos? Can it cause severe rectal itching or skin problems like warts or rashes?

Answer: The risk is asbestosis of the lung. This is a progressive fibrosis of the lung occasionally accompanied by the development of lung cancers. Skin irritation would not usually be seen unless the levels were astronomical.
