General Information
Question: Patient on Cardiazem, and due to dosing problems, MD changed to Tiazac, but since changeover - PATIENT NOTES DEFINITE BODY ODOR CHANGE SINCE GOING ON TIAZAC. I did not find any reference to this situation.... any help appreciated!

Answer: Tiazac is the brand name of the medication known as cardizem, in sustained release form. It is often used instead of other medications in the same family (calcium channel blockers), because of its highly efficient and reliable absorption form the intestinal tract. Although the Physicians Desk Reference does list many side effects for this medication, your symptom is not listed among them. However, several skin conditions are listed among the less common side effects. Is your symptoms also associated with any rash? As always, if you have concerns about any of the medications you are taking, or their side effects, see your health care provider. After a discussion with your physician, you can both decide on a plan of action to address your symptom.
