Stoppage of MS Contin [posted 1/14/99]
Question: What would happen if I just stop taking the ms contin? I hate the side effects, sleeplessness, and sweating (I change cloths at least 3 times a day). Even on the paxil I am grumpy most of the time.

Answer: Depends a great deal on how long you've been taking it. If you have developed dependency expect abdominal pain/cramps, sweats and an anxiety type feeling. If you have not developed dependency, you will experience few, if any problems with sudden cessation. Clonidine (usually a blood pressure pill) can help block some of these if they are severe.
