Jaundice and Autism
Question: My nine-year old cousin had severe jaundice as an infant. She is now showing signs of autism. Is there any link between jaundice and autism?

Answer: No connection that I am aware of. Autism does not appear to be related to any infection. We're not sure of the cause.

Newborn jaundice
Question: Newborns with jaundice are treated with lamps. What does this do?

Answer: It speeds up the metabolism of the bilirubin reducing the levels.
