Levsin: Side Effects [posted 9/29/98]
Question: Could you please email me the side affects to Levsin and Hyoscyamine oral drops which is the generic brand for levsin. My son was prescribed this at 2 months old and has since gained a bald spot.

Answer: Levsin is an anticholinergic type drug. Usual side effects are dry mouth, tachycardia, urinary retention, palpitations, increased ocular tension(accelerating glaucoma),decreased taste, sleepiness,vertigo, impotence, suppression of lactation and constipation. Dermatologic reactions would be extremely uncommon.
