Mad Cow Disease
Question: So far it is speculative. Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease is caused by an infectious agent called a prion(protinaceous infectious particle). This is thought to be the cause of `Kuru, Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease and Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker syndrome. Scrapie is also thought to be transmitted by the prion mechanism. Since the cows were fed animal products prior to developing the neural degeneration, the current thought is as a prion cause similar to scrapie. Prions are fairly speculative and distinct evidence is lacking; however, strong scientific circumstantial evidence is accumulating.

Answer: No effect that I am aware of .
