Question: I would like to ask a questions about pregnancy. I'm a male and currently taking Pepcid AC for my stomach and my wife and I planned on having children. So will this medication be harmful in the process of reproduction?

Answer: No.

Pepcid AC use and sexual dysfunction
Question: I have been using Pepcid AC for about 8 months, Two tablets daily, for the control of heartburn and have been noticing decreased sexual performance. Specifically, the ability to achieve and maintain an erection. Ejaculation does not seem to be affected. Is there any relationship between this problem and taking this medication? I am a 47 year old male.

Answer: Initially, Tagamet(the original H2 blocker) was seen to have the ability to decrease testerone production. This was an occasional feature not common in most men. However, the whole class has this potential problem. Stop the drug for 4-5 weeks and see if the problem corrects - it is reversible. Use antacids in the intervening time or drugs like Prevacid and Prilosec(more expensive, but no reports of testerone problems so far).
