Consumer Comments on New Treatment for Peyronnie's Disease [posted 10/13/98]
Question: After seeing your site I had to pass on this information about Peyronies Medication. There is a newly compounded medication which is proceeding towards FDA approval and has a patent pending. The medication is a cream which is applied two times per day. The results have been good so far and the science is sound. If you want to know more please call your pharmacist as soon as you can. There are doctors prescribing it now and the results are positive. The other good thing is that it is working for those people suffering from Dupytren's Contracture as well. A well known Urologist and hand surgeon are considering doing studies as we speak.

Answer: Thanks.

Peyronnie's Disease [posted 10/13/98]
Question: I have Peyronnie's disease. I have studied everything available on the internet plus additional materials. I know there are no "silver bullets". With that being the case, where should I seek treatment? I would appreciate the name of a specific person and clinic/hospital. If you don't know, I would appreciate the name of a specific person who could probably give me referral to the appropriate physician, clinic, etc. I also have Duptuyren's Contracture

Answer: Wish I could help, but I've been down this path with some of my own patients and really not found anyone who has any options. This includes at a national level. The Duptuyrens are not related.

Peyronnie's Disease [posted 7/17/98]
Question: Is there a disease or condition called Peyronnie's? I am editing a newspaper column in which a man says this is a condition men suffer from that can cause inability or disinterest in sex. I can't find it in any medical dictionary.

Answer: Peyronnie's Disease is an inflammatory disease of the penis. Cause is not known and treatment is poor/none. The penis consists of two chambers that must engorge with blood to become erect. In this disease, one or both are fibrosed and blood cannot properly engorge the penis. The penis on erection is a "bent arrow" and intercourse becomes difficult/impossible. However, the sex drive is still the same-only the ability to carry out intercourse is affected.

Treatments
Question: I have been diagnosed with early onset Peyronnies Disease and am wondering if there are any new treatments that have come to light in the last year or two.
