Dietary Supplements
Question: Do you believe in supplementing your regular diet with minerals? I've been reading a lot about the general need of minerals to maintain a healthy body, also I've read a lot about taking anti-oxidants as a means of protecting against harmful disease. I would appreciate your thoughts on the subject.

Answer: I'm a bigger fan of anti-oxidants than minerals. There is some evidence that some minerals(like iron) can be pro-oxidants and accelerate heart disease. I think you get plenty of minerals in your diet. I prefer a high vegetable intake to supplements with the exception of Vitamin E. I think we don't know the true nature and "best" anti-oxidant. But, high vegetable diets have been shown over and over to have beneficial effects. Why mess with success?
