Question: Is there any substance to the claims by the manufacturer of Pyruvate that it can aid in reducing fat and increase lean muscle mass? I exercise and eat a balanced diet, but an edge in reducing fat would be great. The problem seems that, as with most supplements on the market, it sounds too good to be true. What is the medical professional view of this product?

Answer: Most things that sound too good to be true are. I haven't been impressed that any of my patients who use these supplements have any appreciable effect.
