Rythmol [posted 10/19/98]
Question: where can I find information on the heart medication Rythmol. Thanks for any info.

Answer: Rhythmol(propafenone) is an antiarrthymic used to control cardiac rhythm. Made by Knoll pharmaceuticals(800-526-0221) It is a 1C class antiarrthymic and works by stabilizing the membrane of the cell. It should be given with extreme care in patients with liver or renal disease and liver functions should be checked periodically. Decreased sperm count has been demonstrated in animals. Occasional patients have developed positive ANAs on the medication(the blood test for lupus). An abnormal taste, dizziness, nausea, and first degree heart block are the most common side effects.
