Stelazine and Tardive dyskinesia [posted
1/14/99]
Question: My cousin has taken Stelazine (10 mg nightly) and 2 mg per night of
Artane for 21 years. He seems to be healthy, but does he have any high risk of getting
tardive dyskinesia? After he exercises he experiences trembling in his hands. Is that a
first sign of TD?
Answer:Trembling could be, but facial tics are the classical sign. About 5% experience this problem depending on dosage and duration of treatment.
