Urised
Question: I am a male in my 20's who suffers from chronic bacterial prostitis. I take a generic form of Urised known as Uridon, or Atrosept, for the pain associated with my condition. Recently, I have been having a hard time finding this medication. Every pharmacy I go to says that every company has stopped making these drugs for some unspecified reason. I have heard everything from "just not making it anymore" to "raw materials shortage." Me and my urologist were both shocked as many of his other patients take the drug for pain as well as myself. Has Urised or any of its generics been pulled from the market? If not, is there any word on when the drug will be available again? I am allergic to Pyridium, so I can't take that for pain.

Answer: I'd contact the company Polymedica Pharmaceutica. The number is: 617-933-2020. Also, some of my patients have had success with taking zinc tablets (available over the counter) or saw palmetto (health stores) for chronic prostate problems. Not all get relief, but occasional relief is achieved.
