United States Pharmacopoeia

Question: I have been using the drug information you provide, but I
do not know what it means when you have a “USP” following a generic
name.

Answer: USP refers to a rather large book called United States Pharmacopoeia. This is a complete listing of every approved drug in the United States. There used to be an occasional listing called NF(National Formulary); however, now each drug is USP.
