Question: I was recently diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency disease. Three years ago my gamma globulin levels were too high. Since then I took high dose interferon for hepatitis c. Can interferon cause immunodeficiency? Do high gamma globulin levels mean that you don’t have immunodeficiency at that time?

Answer: High gamma globulin levels would be inconsistent with the diagnosis of Primary Immunodeficiency. As to the interferon, not a problem that I am aware of.
