Digestion

Question: Is there any information about an inability to digest carbonated beverages following laparascopic cholicystectomy? Since this surgery in 1/97, I seem to be unable to digest carbonated beverages without cramping & diarrhea. The symptoms do resolve completely if I avoid carbonation. Just curious if this is temporary or permanent I didn’t have these symptoms prior to the surgery (but I did have all the classic signs of gall stones).

Answer: Not sure why this should be a problem. The gallbladder is involved in digestion of fatty foods and there is no fat in carbonated beverages. I suspect you need an UGI to check this.
