Question: Currently I am taking Carbamagine (Tegratol)900mg, Dextroamphetamine (Dextrostat)40mg, Lamictal 600mg, Buspirone (Buspar) 1mg. I have wanted to get pregnant for a while. I know that there are risks involved while taking this medication. But I suffer severe manic-depression (Bipolar II, rapid cycler), so not taking the medications is just as serious because I am a danger to myself (very suicidal, reckless, etc.) What are the risks factors I am looking at?
Thank you
Liz Davis
Answer: No way of knowing, but some of the seizure medications seem to have a quite high risk. You should discuss this with a high risk Ob-Gyn specialist.
