Question:
for the last five years or so when I’m having a lot of sinus trouble from allergies I eventually have a blockage in one or the other of my parotid glands and surrounding glands. I’m certain it’s related. Do you having any suggestions on how I can lessen this affect as it seems to be happening more frequently? And any suggestions on getting it to drain more quickly? It’s been lasting 3 or 4 days now. Thank you
Answer: An ENT specialist can dialate the opening out of the parotid gland, the usual cause of this problem. It may also be associated with taking antihistamines, these tend to decrease secretions and increase the risk for a small blockage. You might have a small calculus partially blocking the opening as well-this would take an ENT to treat.
