Question: What is “thrombcytopenia” and how should it be treated?
Answer: Low platelets(these are the parts of your blood that are responsible for clotting). The treatment depends completely on the cause of the problem. Most are due to autoimmune disorders, chemotherapy etc.

Question: If a person has a platelet count of around 45,000, but hasn’t not been diagonosed with any particular disease. She is on Hyzaar, does that have anything to do with low platelet count, because I only know of it as a blood pressure pill?
Answer: There are several reasons for a low platelet count. The first step is to determine if they are being destroyed rapidly or not being made/released from the bone marrow. Stopping all unnecessary drugs is usually done since the number that can affect platelet counts is very high.
