Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome [posted 8/4/98]
Question: What is life expectancy? Are there nutritional guidelines and feeding strategies? Can people with this syndrome be expected to walk? Are most people with this syndrome cognitively delayed?
Answer: Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome occurs with deletion of the 4p16 chromosome. It tends to be sporadic and not an inherited problem. The patients have mental retardation and an unusual
face peculiar to the syndrome. I was unable to find information on their life expectancy. I have
never seen or had a patient with the problem to give you perspective.
