Question: My mother is having a dementia (Hardy levy) and is treated

with cognex for several years. Periodically she is tested

for liver functioning condition. Currently she tolerates

150mg a day. Her condition seems to deteroirate slowly but

definetly.

I am familiar with the cognex and aricept. The former drug

seems to keep her at some low level of functioning while the

latter medicine (aricept)caused almost an immediate decline

in her condition. Thus my question is: Are

there new drugs that are more efficient in inhibiting

the acetylcholinestrase.

Thanks, Uzi Eliav

Answer: On the way, but not available clinically currently.
