Question: Hi, Would like some information on Dexnethsone. I know it is related to Prednisone but dexnethsone has less side effects. Could you please tell me more information on this medication. Thanking you Trisha Walker

Answer: Dexamethasone is a synthetic steroid and is fluorinated which increases it’s potency. As a consequence, you can use smaller milligram dosing to achieve the same effect as prednisone. However, the steroid side effects are exactly the same. There will be no difference in the end results of using either of these drugs, but the milligrams of dexamethasone will be lower.
