Question: I am 20 years old and have been suffering from acne for 5 years now. I tried it all but now my doctor has told me to take 2 pilss of doxycycline (100mg)a day instead of 1. It seems to be working. He also told me to not eat milk products two hours before the pill. take it on a full stomach. and no milk products 2 hours after the pill. Now my question is how about dairy products? a slice a cheese on a sandwich? eggs? cookin with a small amount of milk? or butter on my bagel in the morning? please help

Chris

Answer: Doxycycline is best absorbed on an empty stomach and dairy products of any variety do interfere with absorption. However, many patients experience gastritis from the antibiotic and taking it with food reduces this problem.
