Question: I have been taking anywhere from 12-18 ibu. a day for about the last six years.
I have recently gone down to about five a day. What are the effects
of ibuprofen use of this kind.
Answer: High doses over several years can result in decreased renal function. 12-18 would be the range, although smaller doses for long periods can also have this effect. A creatine clearance would be the test to get to check this.

Answer: There aren’t any major ones except rare rash, what were you interested in?
Allergic Reaction to Profen LA (Ibuprofen)
Question: Is there a web page where I can gain access to drug
“pull-sheets”?
I have a relative who is having what appears to be an allergic
reaction to Profen LA. These appear in the form of shingle-like
reactions. Is there any documentation of these type of reactions,
or are you aware if this is a possible reaction?
Answer: By drug “pull sheets” do you mean drug inserts? Usually the manufacturer of the individual
drug you are seeking has these. Use your search engine and the drug company name. They are also
available at your pharmacist on request.

Erythema Multiforme and Ibuprofen/Aspirin
Question: Ibuprofen and Aspirin both have a probable causal relationship
with Erythema Multiforme (EM). If both were included in a pain killer
would this increase the likelihood of triggering EM to any great extent?
Answer: These two medications would not be included in the same medication due to overlapping
effectiveness and overlapping side effects. The potential side effects (like EM) would be
multiplied, hence, these two would not be used concurrently.
Ibuprofen
Question: I am taking 2 regular strength Ibuprofen tablets almost every day. Am I running a risk of damaging my kidneys or stomach lining?
Answer: Long term regular use of any analgesic will cause renal damage. This usually needs 10 years at high doses or 20 years at moderate doses.
