Question: I’ve been taking Imuran to aid in remission therapy for ulcerative colitis

for about 8 months. I understand that this drug supresses my immune system.

What exactly happens in this situation? Does this make me more susceptible to illness? What type of things should I worry

about the longer I am on this medication?

Answer: This would depend a lot on the dosage. But, generally, it is used in relatively small doses. Although it can depress your immune system, in reality it rarely does to any clinically significant extent.
