Question: I have been taking one half Inderal 80mg a day for Anxiety
for 2 yrs Recently (3 months ago) on the advice of my doctor I now take one in the morning and one at night. Can Inderal efect your sense of smell some things like fresh coffee smell awfull and I love coffee and normally the smell of it.
Answer: Not usually, you would have to stop the drug to see.

Question: what are the side effect of inderal tablets?
Answer: Fatigue, slow pulse, occasional nausea, occasional nightmares and sleep disorder.

Question: I began taking Inderal for panic attacks apprx 5 years ago at age 27. I have a prescription for 20mg tablets and take them periocially, averaging 2-6 pills a week. I have gone at most 1/2 weeks without taking any. 2 yrs ago I started noticing thinning hair mostly throughout my scalp, especially noticeable up front. Is it possible that taking so little Inderal for 6 yrs could cause less regrowth? I’ve noticed more hair falls out and I dont see regrowth. I cant imagine Im losing my extremely thick hair this quickly and this young. Also, if I stop taking the inderal will my hair regrow or are the roots damaged permanently? Thank you
Answer: Inderal can cause hair thinning and some patients are more sensitive than others. Try an SRI antidepressant.

Question: I am currently taking Synthroid for Hypothyroidism, Propranolol for Migraines, and Wellbutrin for depression. I will be taking a pre-employment polygraph, and wonder what the effects might be?
Answer: Other than a slow pulse should be none.

Question: I am a 38 year old female and have been taking Inderal for the last 17 years. My concern is how healthy is it for me to be taking this medication for so long. My edocrinologist said it is safe and is not concerned. I have difficulty with short term memory, dry eyes, vivid dreams, tiredness and periods of depression. I have spoken with my doctor about some of these symptoms periodically throughout the years, but he seems to think these are related to daily living…..could this be the medication?? or is it just the stress of raising a family and working. Over the years my doctor and I have slowly decreased my Inderal from 40 milligrams 4 time a day to 10 milligrams 4 times a day. Because of the belief of not taking medication. I seemed to do fine on the lower dose until recently when we had to increase it to 80 milligrams of Inderal LA once a day, because of my heart palpations and rapid heartbeat. (thyroid levels were within normal limits). For now that seems to be working. I was originally put on Inderal for anxiety, when I was 22 years old, but only to find out I was misdiagnosed. All this time I had an over active thyroid. My thyroid was destroyed when I was 26 years old and I was put on synthroid and kept on the Inderal. But recently I have been reading information on this drug and noticed I have some of the symptoms I have been complaining about for years. Does the benefit of taking this medication out way the risk of developing heart disease? Can you please give my any information on this medication of what the “time period” is for taking this drug. How concerned should I be taking this medication? I’m beginning to wonder.
Answer: There doesn’t appear to be any long term side effects of taking beta blockers that differ from the short term effects. However, sleep disorders, nausea, fatigue and slow pulse are the most common problems. Occasionally, one sees hair loss and other minor problems. These clear with stopping the medication. Calcium blockers like verapamil are often also effective in arrthymias and might be a short term answer to see how much is you and how much is the beta blocker.

Question: I have been taking Inderal since May 1998. I feel as though I have been
abnormally hot. More so than my family, even with the heat of the summer. It this somehow
related to the Inderal? Also, I had the beginnings of a cold and a friend gave me Echinea
to take. I took it right before lunch and about 1/2 hour later, I was vomiting. Is it
possible that the Inderal and Echinea shouldn’t be combined? Or should the Echinea just be
taken with food?
Answer: Not a usual reaction. As to the combination, I know of no interaction
problem.
Medication Schedule – Inderal and
Monopril [posted 7/30/98]
Question: I take inderal and monopril once a day. I take the inderal in the morning
and the monopril in the evening. Can I take them at the same time and what would be the
best time?
Answer: Probably, most patients take them in the morning. However, is the
Inderal the LA variety? Inderal by itself only lasts 8-12 hours, in which case I would
continue to stagger them. Regardless, check your blood pressure to see which is easier and
most effective.

Question: Could you tell me what its ingredients and side affects are and what it
is prescribed for?
Answer: Inderal is a beta blocker and its generic name is proparanol. This class
of drugs is used for hypertension, angina, anxiety and rapid heart beats. Side effects are
fatigue, nausea, sleep disturbances, slow pulse, and impotence.
