Question: I have been taking Levaquin (500 m daily) for 14 days for prostitis. My physician prescribed this drug for 30 days. For the last 5 days or so I have had moderate muscle pain epecially in my legs, knees and ankles. My physician has taken me off of Levaquin and put me on Cipro (500 mg twice daily) for the remaining 14 days. Is Cipro as effective for prostitis? Should I be concerned with taking Levaquin in the future?
bob
Answer: Very similar drugs which is why I question why he/she switched you to such a similar drug? As to the future, this would depend on whether the pain went away as you stopped the Levaquin and if you had any increase in your CPK(a muscle enzyme or your sedimentation rate).

before thank you any info will be appreciated
Answer: A very good drug, but very, very similar to cipro. Can’t seem much advantage of one over the other if Cipro failed initially. I would favor Augmentin or Biaxcin.
