Question: I am currently on the medications lotensin and ziac. I want to know what type of interaction these drugs have with alcohol. I am an occasional drinker, but have not drank since I started taking the medication. I was wondering if it would be safe to drink alcohol while on these medications.
Answer: There is no direct interaction with alcohol in moderate usage. Some patients do experience a rise in their blood pressure following alcohol intake, but it is not related to the medications you are taking.

Question: I’m taking 20 mg Lotensin? Does this have any link to ED (per Bob Dole). Also, has their been any evidence reported of liver or kidney problems related to Lotensin?
Answer: Any blood pressure pill can cause decreased erections. If you are having problems discuss it with your doctor. No one will be compliant in the absence of a sex life. As to the liver and kidney problems, there is no clear problem with this drug or class of drugs. Like most drugs, there are occasional case reports of problems. Occasional patients will have reversible renal insufficiency on Lotensin, but this is easily picked up and stops when the drug is stopped.
