Question: I am a healthy 65yr old female. My blood pressure was 160/100 and my Dr prescribed monopril 5mg. I don’t feel any different except for an anoying dry throat. My bp is 140/90 after taking these for 5 days. Even though me bp is down I still feel fine. Is it necessary for me to continue to take this drug. Are there any other long term side effects.

Answer: Continue it, blood pressure is not *cured* unless you take daily medications or lose a significant amount of weight. There do not appear to be any long term problems with the class of ACE inhibitors.
