Question: I am taking Pentasa and Flagyl on the everyday basis. I am considering taking a pill (ortho tri-cyclen), but I was told that taking some antibiotics decreases the effectiveness of the pill. Is this the case for Flagyl? Will Ortho Tri-Cyclen be effective if I take flagyl and pentasa?

Thank you very much.

P.S.Could you please answer me ASAP because I have to start the Pill on March 28?

Answer: Any of the antibiotics can change the metabolism of the pills,as for flagyl specifically, I would contact the makers of Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Ortho-McNeil 800-682-6532
