Colic – Promethazine DM
Question: A friend asked me to find out about the drug Promethazine DM. It was prescribed for his child of 2 years as a treatment for colic. His son began having alarming reactions to the drug, such as banging his head against walls, tearing wallpaper off the walls in uncontrollable fits of rage . He was taken off the drug 2 to 3 days ago but is still reacting strangely
Answer: Nothing works currently for colic. This is a potential side effect with this drug that will
dissipate over about 10 days.
