Question: I am a 30 year old male suffering from CMT since 1994. I am currently taking Amitriptyline 50mg 2 tab at 7pm, Amitriptyline 10mg 1 tab twice a day, Naproxen 375 mg 1 tab twice a day. I was seen in the ER at a VA center and was given Methocarbamol 750mg tab 2 tab 4 times a day for my chronic back pain. Should these medications be mixed like this? I would also like to know if this dose is exteremly high for the Methocarbamol 750mg tab? Concerned Veteran.

Answer: Initial dosing is three tablets four times a day, maintence dosing is two tablets four times a day. 4 grams a day is the recommended maintence dosage, but this would depend a little on your weight. The combo is ok if you are not excessively sleepy.
