Synalar [posted 7/27/98]
Question: Years ago, my mother was given a sample of fading cream of some sort called Synalar. I used the product and within 2-4 days I saw tremendous results. Can you tell me if this drug is on the market? Is it over the counter or a prescription?
Answer: Synalar is a topical steroid called fluocinolone acetonide. Available by prescription only. Similar products are available over the counter in steroid creams and ointments. Ask your local pharmacist for 1% hydrocortisone. it’s not as strong, but it doesn’t need a prescription.
