Flea Control
Question: Do you have any suggestions on what I can try for flea bite control? I have
a cat with small kittens and the fleas attack both me and
my boyfriends son. What can we put on them to help the
itching and/or stop the biting?
Answer: Your vet has a shot which will eliminate the fleas on the animals. Also, you need to get a
exterminator into the house (usually several sequential visits) to eliminate the hatching eggs.
Fleas will preferentially bite animals, but if deprived of their favorite host, attack humans. Local
benadryl lotion and systemic benadryl at bedtime will help the itching. Once the fleas are gone,
do not let your cat out of the house to be reinfected. If you have a yard, that needs to be treated
in the spring.
