Sawpalmetto Use to Minimize Androstnedione Efects
Question: I want to use saw palmetto to minimize side effects during taking androstnedione/-diol for better muscle growth. Does saw palmetto prevent, for example “bitch tits” caused from too much estrogen.
Answer: I’ve used it in many patients to block the effects of prostate enlargement with about 60% success. But, I don’t know anything about blocking other effects of testerone. Currently, there is no clear medical understanding of why this preparation helps BPH-research in progress. I doubt you would have many problems with the drug;but, I’m not sure what you will use to decide if the drug is working.

Question: How do the effectiveness and side effects of saw palmetto versus hytrin compare?
Answer: They seem to work differently. So far, I haven’t seen a combination of the two and there isn’t
much research on Saw Palmetto, although many patients have marked improvement in my
practice. Saw palmetto generally has less side effects.

Question: I have started using Sawpalmetto in an attempt to reduce the size of my enlarged prostate.
What is your medical opinion of Sawpalmetto?
Answer: Several of my patients have reported improvement in their BPH symptoms using sawpalmetto. I’m not aware of any controlled medical evidence, but it doesn’t seem to be toxic. A trial seems appropriate.
