Baclofen [posted 1/7/99]
Question: I’m not quite sure if you are familiar to the drug baclofen, but my niece
has been taking it and it occurred to us that she may be on it for the rest of her life.
So, I am trying to get as much information as possible on it. Especially any long-term
side affects. She has severe Cerebral Palsy. She also had strokes during birth. The
baclofen has helped her stiffening greatly.

Answer: Long term side effects appear pretty minimal. However, you can
obtain a good description of the drug in Goodman and Gilmans Pharmacological Basis of
Therapeutics (basic pharm text) and/or get a copy of the package insert from your
pharmacist.
