Bromocriptine

Question: I am trying to find out what the side affects are on a
medication called Bromocriptine. Can Bromocriptine affect
the liver and also cause the white blood cell count to drop?

Answer: Bromocriptine is a drug with strong dopamine receptor against activity. It is used in treating several disorders. These range from treatment of hyperprolactinemia dysfunctions (usually overproduction in the pituary), acromegaly (excessive production of growth hormone in the pituary), and Parkinson’s disease. The normal contraindications are hypertension and pregnancy. Usual side effects are nausea, headache and dizziness. Transient elevations in liver enzymes are occasionally seen-these are usually clinically unimportant. Drops in white blood cells would be extremely unusual.
