Question: What new medications are available for the treatment of chronic pain?

Answer: There have been no major advances in the treatment of chronic pain by the use of drugs. There is a long list of drugs which are used as adjunct therapy to decrease pain – I would note that they do not abolish pain and each has its own side-effects. The best way to approach this problem is through a physician comfortable with treating chronic pain and the different drugs which are available.
