Answer: Stadol(botorphanol tartrate) is synthetic derivation of opiate agonist. In plain language, this means it is a designed drug which blocks certain receptors that the body uses for the effect of opium. It is used medically for analgesia or pain relief and to reverse some of the side effects of narcotic analgesia. It is available in injectable form or as a nasal spray. The nasal spray is often effective in treatment of migraine headaches. It should not be used in individuals who are dependent on narcotics because of its opiate antagonist properties – withdrawal can ensue.
